From three sites across the North Coast: Clear Lake provides the body and fruit, Sonoma Coast the fresh lightness, and Green Valley a deeper color. Just 12.1%, this is a light-bodied red wine with a pale appearance.
But appearances can be deceptive, because there are a lot of concentrated aromas: cranberry, raspberry, green bell pepper, licorice, smoke, and cloves, with a grainy, acidic palate. Buy now and save for Thanksgiving – this will be the first wine to go.
Former Pax assistant winemaker Duncan Arnot Meyers and cooper Nathan Roberts produce beautiful, terroir-driven, varietally pure small production wines. They launched in 2003 and have been slowly, steadily gaining cult status.
From the producer:
"Trousseau is one of our favorite varieties in the world and we are thrilled with our 2017 North Coast bottling.
All three of our sites: Luchsinger, Bohan and Bartolomei, fared well last year, providing great material for the final blend. We feel the vintage is a beautiful representation of what this variety can do in California, and we look forward to drinking this light-bodied red this fall, especially with our Thanksgiving gatherings where it always seems to be the first wine to disappear from the table."
